Most of the background is white, as to imitate a deep, opaque fog. The ground is a dark and dead forest, no trees or grass, but short stumps and desiccated twigs. At the top of both corners, darkness begins to consume the setting, creating a dark and ominous mood and the white “fog” takes the shape of an arc, rather than a box. The value scale is greatly utilized in the transition from white to black at the tips of the corners. A man, in a black suite with a white undershirt, stands nervously, balancing his weight on two long branches strapped to his feet with rope, over a thick stump. Several twigs of all shapes and sizes are attached to his shoulders and back, creating a pair of wings composed of wood.
This black and white photograph creates a solemn and melancholy mood. The world is dead and without life. It illustrates the aftermath of overusing resources exercised by humans since the earliest of times. One day, our habits will kill the forest, nature and inevitably, us. The man, our savior, will be too late to rescue us, for he has also be influenced by evil; illustrated by his dependency to fly by standing on trees and using them as wings. The end creeps closer, as the dark edges gradually grow more over time and there will be no way to reverse our actions.
