My social issue deals with self-inflicted pain and to some extent abuse. Some people prefer to cut themselves to distract themselves from emotional pain and that’s what this photograph captured. Some people have multiple scars on their arm which means that they have one for every time they felt depressed about something. So I see these people as writers who tell their stories not on paper, but on their bodies. “I write in red ink” literally means what it appears. “I” is not me, but other people who have slashed their arms. Write represents expression rather than to actually write and “Red Ink” is blood. The picture is really self-explanatory, but the truth behind the words has more meaning.
